I first watched this movie when I was 10 years old, because back in the 90s we had very little choice about what to watch. I then perfectly understood and even appreciated the alcohol humor, but I did not catch the film at all.
I watched it for adults and rediscovered the film. It's clear. The story is that funny cases and all the Russian instability come from the fact that our man drinks a lot. And to a foreigner what is happening in our life seems to be a series of incoherent and nightmarish images that he cannot understand, and he cannot explain. Although the whole mystery is simple: alcoholism and ignoring reality. The actions of the characters in the film are extremely illogical, and it could be a minus in some other film, but here the whole story is devoted to this. Characters go hunting, but lose boots, vodka, cow, service weapons, prey, the meaning of the whole idea and finally themselves. Bravo. Under the guise of a comedy collection of hunting tales, the viewer is actually shown the unfunny truth about drunken Russia, in which people manage to keep happiness in their hearts only thanks to a glass and nature.
The rating is forced to reduce due to the completely incomprehensible character of Leva performed by Strugachev. He does not carry a plot function, suddenly begins to scold friends for drinking, although he had no prerequisites for this and the same drunk. For some reason, he goes alone to jam the fish with dynamite, although they were together, and this is not explained. As a result, he somehow incomprehensibly finds a police gun in his hand, floating out of the water, aki Thanos finds a soul stone. This is all too confusing even for a movie like this.
