Impressions are twofold. The first half of the film is a good police drama with elements of comedy. It is not surprising that the filmmakers try to give us as much as possible to understand what kind of heroes they represent to our attention. Here, of course, it is worth noting Mel Gibson, brilliantly playing the “frozen” policeman Riggs, with a mad and desperate look.
The second half of the film is a typical action movie, and it causes conflicting feelings. On the one hand, this is an old action movie, so there are no nonsense like bullets hovering in the air and karates jumping ten meters - the Matrix will not soon absorb the minds of directors and stunt directors. In general, everything is quite realistic, if you do not pay attention to the amazing endurance of the main character - not only that the next day after a rather serious injury (shot in the stomach through a bulletproof vest followed by a flight through the window glass), he, as if nothing had happened, goes to the "disassembly", so also, having been captured by the bandits, having survived torture, he quite quickly runs, fights and even shoots very accurately. However, the action movie is such an action movie, Hollywood is such a Hollywood - for that we love it.
Bottom line: 50% great police drama/comedy with wildly charismatic characters, 50% pretty decent action movie with no claims to anything. On average, it is “good.”
