On the edge A skillful combination of strong drama and high-speed adrenaline action is a rare phenomenon, almost unique, and for our cinema beautiful and outstanding films appear in very limited quantities. "The edge" is just such a pleasant phenomenon. It is slightly uneven, it is long in timekeeping, but all this is justified by the action and what is happening on the screen.
Vladimir Mashkov, who can hardly be recognized here, puts his best in the emotionality of his hero, in his passion, excitement, aspiration and life positions that influence the action and behavior of the character. For the timing of the film, the hero manages to change colorfully, improving and improving, attracting sympathy more and more. Similarly, the German actress Añorca Strehel, for which the leading women’s party is assigned, also performed chicly. Their union gives a beautiful, amazing and extremely fascinating history of relationships, against the background of which there are many other interesting events.
The film as a whole is filled with bright characters of other characters, and a regular guest of the visual series – a live brown bear – all the more memorable. Here, the visual part, despite the confused rhythm of the scenes, regularly presents something interesting, ranging from the process of building a bridge, love scenes and emotional trials, ending with a bear feast and fascinating drive chases involving old trains. In general, racing on locomotives is a rare and unique event in the cinema, and how skillfully they are performed here, it remains only to be amazed.
A history of character, purpose and the struggle of stereotypes. The story of love, which is perhaps even more important than everything else, and the power of will that can overcome any trials and difficulties in life. The film is emotionally strong, soulful and with very correct nested ideas, accessible to perception and understanding. And in addition to the entertaining aspects, like the scene in the bath, comic dialogue, and again the race of locomotives, the film is filled with characters, interesting plot twists and nested semantic basis of what is happening. And at the same time, a beautifully chosen name, reflecting that here everything happens on the edge, on the limit, on the edge - emotions, feelings, risk. Beyond the possible and beyond the reasonable, where feelings become much more important.
And even if sometimes some scenes cause bewilderment, and the declared Garmash to wait like Bezrukov in the "Admiral" (no, to wedge three other flashbacks about his character, since the main character in the absence of a family back stories is not at all, and about the crash we clearly still in the prologue all explained), some too sharp jumps in events and scenes, the film is still beautiful, pleasant in its details and leaving a strong good impression.
