The adaptation of Stephen King's short story "The Body" is the film "Stay by Me", filmed in 1986 by Rob Reiner. This is the story of four twelve-year-old friends from the small town of Castle Rock. Three of them - Chris Chambers (River Phoenix), Verni Tessio (Jerry O'Connell) and Teddy Duchamp (Cori Feldman) - from dysfunctional families, and the fourth, on behalf of whom the story is being told, Gordie Lachance (Will Wheaton), the family, although it was prosperous, but after the death of his brother, the boy feels superfluous in the family, neither father nor mother cares about him, they can not cope with their grief and do not pay attention to the boy. And then one day in the town disappears one boy, he went to the forest for berries and did not return, announced a reward to the one who finds the body. Verney accidentally overhears the conversation of his brother with a friend who found a body in the woods, he was hit by a train, but are afraid to confess, because then it may be discovered that they were in the area, riding in a stolen car. Verney tells his friends, they decide to go there on foot, because they are looking for a reward, and about them can write in the local press. But they will have opponents, because the company of local hooligans will also go there, if the boys road takes a day, then those cars will be much faster, of course. There will be a conflict from which the boys will emerge victorious. We see how in this small but not always safe journey the character of the boys manifests itself, we see how their relationship with each other, we see how Chris shows almost paternal care for Gordy, these two are the closest to each other, and Gordy supports Chris about his prospects in the future, Chris fears that he will not shine, but Gordy turns out to be right, Chris will really achieve a lot for a person from such a family, he will become a lawyer, but, unfortunately, will die, rushing to separate the fights, as he always did (this is not a spoiler, this movie begins). With the other two by then, their paths have already diverged, Gordy will become, as he intended and to which he showed a penchant since his youth, a writer. About what happened to them as a child, Gordy writes a story, reading in the newspaper about the death of Chris, as Chris once predicted to him. The film ends with a line on a computer screen: “Although we haven’t seen each other in over a decade, I know I’ll always miss him.” I have never had friends like I did when I was twelve. Oh, my God, is it any different?
