About parents and children... And what I have not heard about this film, and in what ratings I have not seen it. And everywhere it is highly valued. I became very curious, because I have always been and will always be influenced by all sorts of tops, so I watched the Tokyo Tale.
An elderly couple travels with their youngest daughter to Tokyo to visit their children: a son who became a doctor, and a daughter who opened a beauty salon. The children are too busy to work with their parents and send them to the resort. After a sleepless night at a bustling resort, parents return to Tokyo. Before leaving, the mother spends the night with the widow of another son, and the father meets with his old, drinking friends.
The film tells about the relationship of three generations. Parents, children and grandchildren. The film touches on a very important topic. It is important that it is quite extensive. Everywhere and everywhere there are cases when children become indifferent to their parents, and they just forget about them. So here, when older people come home to their children, they show that they are supposedly happy to see them, but their faces, gestures and phrases show that all these feelings are strained and artificial. Just like their parents, they seem to show that, they say, had a good time, but in fact they have a terrible pain in their hearts because of the indifference of their children, and if at the beginning of the film their joy was real, then at the end of the film it was artificial and it is perfectly shown.
But the grandchildren were much more decent than their parents, at least they did not hide their indifference, unlike them.
What I didn’t like was the acting. Maybe the Japanese always, I don’t know, I watched a few of their films, but honestly, the face is always the same emotion. When I saw Seven Samurai, which is also an old Japanese film, it wasn’t there, but it was always a smile. Perhaps it was necessary in this scenario, because the whole meaning of the film is built on this, but, nevertheless, very sometimes it was unpleasant to look at their unchanging faces. The film is great. Especially in the script. I’ve probably never seen a film like this before. The conflict between generations, built on indifference on the one hand and inaction on the other, is perfectly shown. There may be some hidden meaning to this, but it seems to me that the director just wanted to show how not to behave with his ancestors. Original
