Don't be afraid
Of all James Wan’s film stories about demons and terrible houses, The Conjuring & #39 has become the most conservative – the demonologists Ed and Lorraine Warren use a standard and proven set in the fight against evil, which includes audio-video techniques for fixing spirits, as well as faith, cross and sacred texts for their exile. In the second part of the story, the director seems to have done everything possible to reinforce this conservatism. It is not only the transfer of the scene from New England to the old, but also the semantic load on the topic of family. The evil entity chooses to sacrifice an already unhappy single mother with 4 children, periodically settling in the girl Janet. Arriving in London, Ed and Lorraine not only begin to study the paranormal events, but also undertake to improve the emotional climate in the family, disturbed by the departure of his father and the return from the grave of the spirit of an old man Bill, who through Janet makes it clear that this is his home and he will not leave here. After chatting with Bill, Ed begins with simple things: repairs the closet door, a leaky faucet, teaches the children that ' family is always at the same time' and the pinnacle of returning to a bad home atmosphere of family warmth and tranquility becomes the song of Elvis. When surrounded by children Ed sings to the guitar ballad 'Can't Help Falling In Love' in a Christmas setting with a Christmas tree on the table by the window and pasted paper snowflakes, you know for sure, at this point in the film nothing bad can happen. In general, the image of Ed with an old-fashioned hairstyle (the film takes place in the 70s) attracts some masculinity and thoroughness, demonstrating new facets of acting skills of Patrick Wilson.
So instead of the usual pattern of dispersing characters with their subsequent individual survival attempts, the filmmakers mobilize their characters. This is a horror movie that teaches us not to be afraid. Fear, of course, will haunt everyone in this film: the suffering family, the visiting journalists, and Ed and Lorraine, who will face an even stronger opponent than in the first film. Not forgetting about the traditional scheme of struggle with the declared evil spirit, it is the fight against fear that focuses the attention of the viewer ' Conjuring 2' As if the director decided to remind about one important component, without which no ominous clouds over your houses will not dissipate.
