The film by Georgian director Georgi Ovashvili “Corn Island” / Simindis kundzuli, 2014. The film was shot by a very international team - starting with the co-author of the script, ending with actors (known Turkish actors starred in the title role and in the role of one of the military, and the performer of the main role of Turkmen origin), the cameraman is Hungarian, the production designer is Mongolian, and the editor is Korean (maybe so many remember Kim Ki-Duk, what is something in common in the editing style?), not to mention representatives of various other countries in the film crew, you rarely find such a variety. However, the director managed to assemble a team that managed to make this wonderful film. The plot is simple and not full of details, we essentially do not know who they are and where they come from in their boat, apparently, they have the main place where they live, but from there they flee to this island, somewhere there the girl’s parents died. Heroes are very few words, but we follow this simple human life, the life of people far from us, which touches us precisely with its simplicity. In fact, everything is quite ephemeral in our lives - like this ephemeral island, first washed away by a river and then washed away by it, like human lives that sometimes hang literally by a thread, which eventually ends and the person disappears.
