X First Class I will not hide and hide, but I will surrender with guts at once. I love comic books (although I have never read a comic book). I love the X-Men. And no, not from previous movies. It just so happened in my life that I enjoyed watching all the animated series about these X-men (and not only about them). And the scarier it was for me to go to the theater to see that movie, even after a friend of mine told me there was more to see besides Magneto's helmet. At least two previous films (Last Battle and Wolverine (although Sabre Tooth and Deadpool were great) have hurt me. Why at least two? I just don’t agree with the first two. Namely, my disagreement extends to Shelma and Cyclops. I'd rather keep quiet on the subject, for it is indecent for girls to swear like sailors.
So, stepping on the throat of my sneering inner voice, claiming in the vile intonations of Baba Yaga, that this is another twist of my favorite X, I drowned in the morning on X-Men: First Class.
It's worth saying right away. There have been many differences with the Marvel world, but I can forgive them. There are many things in the movie that you can even love.
The first thing I want to record in the asset of the film is a well-chosen actors for three main roles. Namely James McAvoy, Michael Fassbender and Kevin Bacon.
I would never have thought, watching the always sober, cold-blooded and wise Professor X sitting in his wheelchair, that he was once so charmingly arrogant and a little spontaneous. But McAvoy showed perfectly that, even with such a good talent, Charles was already the leader who could find the right solution and, if necessary, sacrifice himself for others. He was a father to mutants, answering their questions about who they were and helping to curb their abilities. But he’s still not the wise Professor who respected everyone’s gift, helping others to love themselves as they are. Here, Charles does not understand the Mystic throwing, and does not find the right words to reconcile it with himself. But it more than succeeds his best friend Eric Lancher, Magneto.
I will try to put into words my emotions on the theme
Magneto performed by Michael Fassbender. He's beautiful, he's really attractive, he can stab you and you'll even love him for it. It's some animal magnetism (ha ha) that makes you freeze next to it. He is terrible in his desire for revenge, and at the same time, his motives are understandable to the pain, to the grinding of his teeth. He was made this way, an animal was awakened in him. But think about it. Eric's right. We destroy everything we fear and cannot explain. So why can't they mutants hate us for that? Why can't they destroy us in return? Who gave us the right to judge them? But... Who gave Eric the right to judge everyone on his own? I am ready to say thank you to the filmmakers for so convincingly showing and explaining Magneto’s motives.
And more. Thank you for the dialogue between Charles and Eric. Throughout the film stretches a subtle thread that these two extraordinary personalities in symbiosis with each other become millions of times stronger. Eric helps Charles temper his impulsivity, which is noticeable at the beginning of the film. And Charles, in turn, restrains Eric’s anger, helping him gain new strength. They encourage and support each other. Protect against errors as much as possible.
And so it hurts to see Magneto cut ties with his friend by putting his famous helmet on his head. He does it consciously, you might say, as a defensive response. Fear of loss and misunderstanding forces Eric to cross out the only good that came out of his life after camp.
Personally, I could hardly breathe watching the scene on the beach.
Oh, I'm really into philosophy. There's so much more to say. So let's hurry.
Let's start point by point. As the same friend of mine who gave his permission to go and watch says, there are a couple of Easter eggs in the film for those who know that they can’t help but rejoice. I think everyone's heard about the bar and some well-known mutant. But, I advise you to pay attention to the scene of Mystic’s visit to Magneto’s room in Xavier’s mansion (yes, I called Professor that and will call him that). Those who watched the first three parts will be pleasantly surprised.
Next, let’s alternate the pleasant with the real. Stereotypes on the subject of Russians have already become obsolete. Well, at least there were no bears. But the scene with the confrontation in the Caribbean does suggest that the Americans gave us a kind of humanity. The words of the captain of our cruiser (not to hit me with slippers unless it was a cruiser) that he had already passed one war and did not want to start a new one, pleasantly surprised me. So the grinding of the teeth at how creepy we are, at the end of the film, was slightly weakened.
Just like I promised again. Special effects. I want to say that here they are at the level and presented to the viewer exactly in those proportions, so as not to cause overeating. Everything is literate and beautiful. Even if against all the laws of physics.
The female half of the film was not happy. The White Queen, aka Emma Frost - when will they find a beautiful blonde with the right shapes and thoughts in her eyes for this role?
Mystic performed by Jennifer Lawrence was nice, but she has not yet equalled Rebecca Romin. I'm not going to say anything about B/B. It was not enough, and I have sympathy for Rose Byrne. The mutant boys, on the other hand, had fun. What are the only aerobatics lessons for Banshee and Hawok training?
Yes, there are many inconsistencies in the film with the familiar story of the fans. Yes, for this you can froth at the mouth to assure that the film is complete nonsense. But... At least for the sake of the line of Charles and Eric is worth watching the movie. And definitely in the movies.
Those who do not know the entire history of the X-Men will enjoy high-quality action, and for lovers to think here there are a couple of goodies. And, if you are a loyal fan of this series, you will also like the film, at least the atmosphere and favorite characters.
Personally, I found familiar things in the film with childish enthusiasm.
The film is not a masterpiece of cinematography, but it is worth the time and money.
