British producer, film director and actor Matthew de Ver Drummond (Matthew Vaughn), who took the pseudonym Matthew Vaughn, was born on March 7, 1971 in London. His father, Count George Albert Harley de Drummond, belongs to the high nobility of England, the godfather of George was King George VI himself. The fate of young Matthew was predetermined – the upper world and an exquisite society. He studied at the elite Stowe school in Buckingham, after graduating from which, Matthew, as a young man from high society, traveled around the world for a year. Once in Los Angeles, he first began to work in film – assistant director. Returning to London, he studied anthropology and ancient history at University College. However, the movie so captured him that he soon dropped out and returned to Los Angeles to pursue a film career. He will not return to England until he is 25. Not for long. Then he will be known as the producer of the film “Dream of the Innocents”. However, the real fame came to Vaughn in collaboration with Guy Ritchie in such cult films as “Cards, Money and Two Guns”, “Big jackpot” and “Gone”, and in “Maps” he tried himself in the acting role. With Guy Ritchie, he is connected not only by work, but also by friendly relations - in 2000, Vaughn was the best man at the wedding of Guy and Madonna. By the way, Matthew himself married another superstar – Claudia Schiffer, who gave birth to Count George’s grandson Caspar and two granddaughters Clementine and Cosima Violet.
In the past decade, Matthew has worked as a writer and director. He has already released five films - Layer Cake (2004, with J. Connolly), Stardust (2007), Kick-ass (2010), Payback (with J. Madden, 2010). And here is his latest work – “X-Men: First Class”, as well as “Kick-Ass”, which is a fashionable genre in recent years – the film adaptation of the comic book. /
