Machico's career began after she took part in the 36th talent search campaign run by the Horipro agency, where she became a finalist. Although she was not declared a winner at the event, she made her musical debut in 2012 when she was selected to perform the song "Magical Happy Show!" which was used as the main theme for the visual novel Supipara: Alice the Magical Conductor. The single was released on May 23, 2012.
Machico debuted as a seiyu in 2013, when she was chosen to voice the heroine of the mobile game The Idolmaster: Million Live! Tsubasi Ibuki. On June 11, 2014, the singer released her first album, COLORS, which peaked at #64 on the weekly Oricon chart. Her second album, COLORS II -RML-, was released on April 8, 2015 and reached number 86 on the same chart. In the same year, she played herself in the anime Sore ga Seiyu!.
Machico's song "fantastic dreamer" was the opening track of the 2016 anime series Kono Subarashii Sekai ni Shukufuku o![5]. The single was released on January 27, 2016 and ranked 42nd on the weekly Oricon chart. The singer's next single, "Yūki no Tsubasa" (Japanese: Ki no Tsubasa, "Wings of Courage") was released on November 9, 2016. It was used as the final theme of the anime 12-sai: Chicchana Mune no Tokimeki 2nd Season. In December 2016, Machico opened its official fan club called ZO NA. Her fourth single, "TOMORROW", was the opening song by Kono Subarashii Sekai ni Shukufuku o! 2. It was released on February 1, 2017 and reached number 23 on the weekly Oricon chart. In addition, in the same year, Machico performed the song "Million Smile", which was used as the opening theme for Kono Subarashii Sekai ni Shukufuku o! -Kono Yokubukai Game ni Shinpan o!-, a video game based on the franchise. The singer's next single, "Kore Kara" (Japanese: Kore Kara, "From Now on"), which served as an opening for the anime Ryuuou no Oshigoto!, was released on January 31, 2018 and ranked 32nd on the weekly Oricon chart.
