Born in Osaka (28.1.1931).
He graduated from Kyoto State University and specialized in Italian literature.
He worked as an editor of an economic journal, managing a factory, since 1957 as a journalist on Osaka Radio and in newspapers. In 1961, he won the contest for the best fiction story organized by SF Magasine magazine; the following year, Komatsu’s short story “Peace on Earth” was published in the pages of this magazine.
