Born in Moscow. After graduating from the geological faculty of Moscow State University, he worked as a journalist in the newspaper Komsomolskaya Pravda and the magazine Around the World. Bilenkin’s first NF publication was the story “Where Is He From?” (1958). Although the writer achieved fame thanks to short science fiction stories, he is also the author of such famous novels of the Soviet NF as “Transfer to Mercury” (1967), “The End of the Law” (1980), “The Power of the Strong” (1985) and the novel “The Desert of Life” (1984).
