In 1977, Marco Rizi made a documentary for television called Notes on Hollywood. In 1978, he co-wrote the screenplay for Dear Dad, and then I'm Photogenic (1979). As a director-director, Marco Risi made his debut in 1982, releasing the film I Will Live Alone, followed by Boy and Girl (1984) and Love at First Sight (1985), which did not attract much attention. The transition to a more realistic film was marked by the social film Soldiers 365 Days from Dawn (1987). Turning to the study of the problem of juvenile offenders, he puts the film “Mary Forever” (1989), which aroused great audience interest. The continuation of this theme was the film “Guys on the outside” (1990); this film about the dramatic fate of yesterday’s prisoners was awarded the David Donatello Prize for Best Director. The investigative film Rubber Walls (1991), in which the director tried to reconstruct the tragic plane crash off the island of Ustica and find out its causes, became a challenge to the Italian justice system. In the hard-hitting drama The Gang (1994), Marco Rizi revisits the subject of youth crime in a conformist society, and then makes a documentary about the work of minors, Children at Work (1996). In 1998, he directed a black comedy based on the story of Nicolo Ammanitti “There will be no Holiday”, and in 2001 he released the comedy film “Three Wives”. Currently, Marco Rizi is engaged in production work and in the framework of a joint Italian-Argentinian project is shooting a film about the life of the great footballer Diego Maradona.
