Catherine Hardwick was born on October 21, 1955 in the American city of Cameron, Texas. In addition to her, John and Jamie Hardwicke have two more children – daughter Irene and son Ben. Early in her career, Catherine Hardwicke worked as an architect. In 1993, as a production designer, she participated in the creation of Tombston, then in 1998 – in the film Newton Boys, in 1999 – in the film Three Kings. In 2001, Catherine during the filming of the film “Vanilla Sky” collaborated with screenwriter and director Camer Crowie, as well as with producer and actor Tom Cruise.
As producer Katherine Hardwicke first performed with
film "Thirteen" In 2003. The script for this film was written with Nikki Reed. Subsequently, this film at various film festivals won a large number of awards. As a director, Catherine debuted in 2005 with the film “Kings of Dogtown”, which was based on the documentary “Dogtown and the Zet Guys” by Stacey Peralta. In 2008, Summit Entertainment invited Katherine Hardwicke to direct a new project. The film company intended to film the work of Stephanie Meyer “Twilight Saga”, consisting of four books: “Twilight”, “New Moon”, “Eclipse” and “Dawn”. However, Catherine directed only Twilight, after which the film company refused to cooperate with her, and Chris Weitz was invited to further work.
She later collaborated with Summit Entertainment as a director on the film adaptation of Gail Foreman’s If I Stay.
In 2010, Katherine Hardwicke directed the film The Drawing Key Gang, and in 2011, Red Riding Hood. /
