Gilmour (born July 5, 1935) has gained international popularity with his action-packed detective stories and Hollywood memoirs. He is considered one of America’s most controversial writers, spanning Tokyo, London and Paris, as well as his native Hollywood, where he was friends with icons such as Marilyn Monroe and James Dean.
He followed the road to fame, trying himself in a variety of ways before becoming a writer – was a magician, artist, actor, poet, screenwriter, director of films of category “B”, and considers this life school very useful. He became a well-known author in the 1960s, occupying a mostly niche crime detective, the events of which are based on a real crime. One of Gilmour’s most famous books in the genre is Severed: The True Story of the Black Dahlia, the story of the unsolved and unsolved murder of Elizabeth Short, with whom he was familiar in his youth. This case was called the Black Dahlia.
