Nicholas Winding Refn was born on September 29, 1970 in the Danish city of Copenhagen, in the family of a cinematographer and film director. Refn has a brother, Kasper, who is a popular Danish singer. At an early age, the boy decided to follow in the footsteps of his parents and seriously began to take an interest in the process of making films.
At the age of eight, the future director and his parents moved to New York, but after a while the boy returned to Copenhagen to graduate from high school. After high school, Nicholas returned to New York and passed the entrance exams to the Academy of Dramatic Arts. However, after studying for several years, the young man returned to Denmark to study at the Danish film school.
Nicholas’ debut as a director took place in 1996 with the crime thriller Dealer. The director is also the screenwriter of this film. In the picture in the main roles starred
Zlatko Burich , Kim Bodnia, Slavko Labovich and Laura Drasbek. The plot is based on the story of a drug dealer who, during a police raid, gets rid of the goods and becomes indebted to his suppliers.
The next work of the film director was the picture “Bleeding out”, which was released on the big screens in 1999. In the film again starred known for the film “Dealer” Kim Bodnia and Zlatko Burich.
In 2003, the next work of the director was released – the thriller “Fear X”, which tells the story of a man who is trying to find the murderer of his pregnant wife on his own.
A year later, the continuation of the thriller “Dealer” – “Dealer 2”, and soon “Diller 3” appeared on the screens.
