Astrid Anna Emilia Lindgren was born on November 14, 1907 in Sweden. After graduation, she began working in the newspaper, and in 1926 moved to Stockholm, where she continued her studies, enrolling in the school of secretaries. In the same year, her son was born, but Astrid married only five years later, taking the name of her husband, which she later glorified throughout the world.
We can say that the beginning of her work contributed daughter Karin. When she was 7 years old, she became seriously ill, and her mother told her stories every night. One day Karin made a strange order. She wanted to hear the story of Pippi Long Stocking. Without further question, Astrid began her story. Of course, there was no official publication of the book. She broke her leg and couldn’t get out of bed. Because she was bored, she began writing stories about a girl with a strange name to give her daughter a manuscript for a decade. Why Astrid took the work to the publishing house is unknown. Nevertheless, the book became popular and even received several prizes, and Astrid herself began to work in a children's book publishing house.
Lindgren did not even think about writing for adults, choosing the path of writing only children's books. She totally agreed with me.
Antoine de Saint-Exupery He believed that all people came from childhood. She also had the idea for a book called “Carlson Who Lives on the Roof.” Karin told her mother that when she was alone, a funny man flew into her room through the window. And so Carlson appeared - intelligent, handsome and moderately well-fed man.
Astrid Lindgren is the first children’s writer to earn the respect not only of his young readers, but also to receive the Swedish State Prize for Literature. She died in 2002 at the age of 94.
