Minister of Finance of the Russian Federation, Deputy Prime Minister of the Russian Federation, Alexei Leonidovich Kudrin was born on October 12, 1960 in Latvia, in the family of a soldier.
After moving to Leningrad, Alexei Kudrin entered the Leningrad State University at the Faculty of Economics. After graduating from the university, he defended his thesis on the topic “Comparability in the Mechanism of Realization of Economic Competition Relations”, after which he was awarded the degree of Candidate of Economic Sciences. He has written more than fifteen scientific papers on economic and financial issues. Currently he is an Honorary Professor of St. Petersburg State University.
Since 1990, Alexei Kudrin took an active part in the public life of St. Petersburg, worked in the Committee for Economic Development, was chairman of the Main Financial Department of the City Hall of St. Petersburg, and in 1993 was appointed first deputy mayor of St. Petersburg, which at that time was A. Sobchak. After moving to Moscow in 1996, he began working in the Presidential Administration of the Russian Federation.
