Parents, due to various circumstances, very often moved from place to place, which gave the future director an opportunity to get acquainted with the lives of people in other cities and countries. The young man never hesitated to ask questions about unfamiliar things, beliefs, and constantly learned, deeper understanding of the world.
In 1991, Donnesmark arrived in Russia, St. Petersburg, where he studied Russian language and literature. Florian proved himself an excellent student and received the specialty of a teacher of Russian as a foreign language.
In 1993, the talented young man entered the University of Oxford, at the end of which in 1996 he received a degree in political science, economics and philosophy. The practice took place with the popular director Lord Attenborough. A short time later, Florian entered the Munich University of Television and Film.
In 1997, Florian Henkel von Donnesmark made his first short film Mitternacht, in 1998 – the film Datum, in 1999 – the short film Dobermann.
