Gu Hye Son gained fame and respect by starring in the drama At 19 with a Clean Heart (2006), where she played the role of a young, intelligent village girl with a brave heart. This drama tells the story of how she managed to go through all the suffering and ultimately find her true love. For this role, she won an award at the KBS Acting Awards for Best New Actress.
In 2007, the actress starred in the South Korean historical series The King and I. In 2009, she was cast as Geum Jandi in the drama Flowers After Berries. For this role, the actress received many awards and recognition of fans. Gu Hye Son also received good reviews of her book and paintings, as she is known not only as an actress, but also as a director, novelist, composer and painter. In 2009, the actress fulfilled her childhood dream and released her first album Breath. She wrote all the songs herself. Japanese pianist Isao Sasaki is a music arranger.
Initially, Gu Hye Son was scheduled to debut as a singer (presumably as part of a group of 3 girls along with Park Bom and Sandara Park from 2NE1), but the CEO of Yang Hyun Seok agency YG Entertainment advised Gu Hye Son to become an actress. And yet Hae Son proved herself as a singer. In 2009, she released her debut album in the style of new age Breath, as well as she sang with several famous musicians.
In 2009, a semi-autobiographical novel by Gu Hye Son called Tango was published, which tells about the love experience of women in their twenties. The book became a bestseller, selling 30,000 copies in a week. The book’s release coincided with the opening of He Son’s first solo art exhibition, held in July 2009 at the La Mer Gallery. The exhibition was also called “Tango”, it featured about 40 works by Gu Hye Son, some of which were illustrations for the book. The exhibition was a success, it was visited by more than 10,000 people. In addition, Gu Hye Son designed the cover of the fourth album of the Korean singer Gummy called Comfort.
Gu Hye Seong’s official debut as a director took place at the 2009 Puchon International Fantastic Film Festival in Pucheon, Korea, where she presented her short film The Madonna. In 2010, she wrote and directed the first feature-length film, Magic. She also directed the 2010 film You.
In 2011, she founded her own company, Ku Hye-sun Film, under the name of which she plans to produce and direct her projects. Her second film, Peach Tree (2011), was the first film directed by her company. In an interview, Gu Hye Son said of her directing experience, It’s exhausting and exhausting. Sometimes I ask myself why I’m doing this, but the movie makes me feel alive.
In 2012, Gu Hye-sung starred in two dramas: the Korean drama Take Care of Us, Captain!, where she played the role of a female pilot, and the Taiwanese drama The Perfect Guy, an adaptation of the manga.
In 2014, she starred in the Korean drama Angel Eyes and the feature film Daughter.
In 2015, she starred in the Korean drama Blood (2015), where she played the role of a doctor working in the best cancer center in the country, with an interesting mysterious case from childhood; along with actors Ahn Jae Hyun and Ji Jin Hee in the title role.
On March 11, 2016, journalists caught Gu Hye Son and Ahn Jae Hyun on a date. Later, the agencies of both artists confirmed information about their relationship. The actors began dating in April 2015.
Their wedding took place on May 21, 2016 in a private setting attended by close friends and relatives. The couple divorced in 2019.
