The Kingdom of the Potatoes is a very calm place. A castle, rolling hills, and A DRAGON'S CAVE. A curse on Hugo III, king of the Potatoes. To put an end to this calamity, Hugo III calls upon all knights specialized in dragon-slaying, promising his daughter's hand to the succesful candidate. From that moment on, all manner of knights, for the most part unratified, try to vanquish the beast and win the royal beauty. But the king's daughter, Princess Melodine, is in love with Riri, the court jester! For their love to last, no knight must vanquish the dragon. Riri secretly devises different means to foil and cover each pretender with ridicule, sometimes with the help of his faithful friend Juju, othertimes with the talents of Merlin the Magician. Detectives, boy bands, revolutionaries and horseshoe-throwing champions are but a few of the hapless candidates in for foreseeable disappointment. close

The Kids of Degrassi Street is a Canadian children's TV show that aired from 1979 to 1986, and is the first in the Degrassi series, about the lives of a group of children living on Degrassi Street in Toronto, Canada. It grew out of four short films: Ida Makes a Movie, Cookie Goes to the Hospital, Irene Moves In and Noel Buys a Suit, which originally aired as after-school specials on CBC Television in 1979, 1980, 1981 and 1982, respectively. The show was acclaimed for its realistic depiction of every day children's lives and tribulations, and remains memorable to many Canadians because of this.
Kids of Degrassi Street featured many of the same actors who would later appear on Degrassi Junior High and Degrassi High, including Stacie Mistysyn, Neil Hope, Anais Granofsky, Sarah Charlesworth and others. However, their character names and families were different, so this series cannot technically be seen as an immediate precursor to the later shows. close

Perhaps the only film whose content is totally based on the musical form known as canon. The first sequence is a simple demonstration of the canon "Frere Jacques" where four cubes dance and combine with one another on a checkerboard. The second sequence show four little human-like figures dancing in space. The third and most elaborate sequence shows a human going through several strange gesticulations. Through multiple printing we realize that the man, as in the previous sequences, is part of a visual canon and is making the gestures to himself. As we hear variations on the canonic theme so too do we witness visual variations: a woman and cat enters the canon. To show the musical technique of inversion, the image of the man is printed upside down. close
