An improvised tragi-queer film about an older gay man who was once the (caviar and) toast of the gay rave scene. He takes care of the homes of residents in a high-rise Johannesburg suburb, from older Jewish women to messier gay men. The houseboy is obsessively in love with his client, the celebrated captain of the Flamingos synchronized swimming team. He is the ultimate bunny boiler in the bunny suit. Rejected by the object of his affections, he takes refuge with a kinky lesbian/queer couple. Tensions rise as he drives a man-sized wedge in their relationship. close

Deep within a small distant village, lives a humble Tok Chai who rears a "Hantu Raya" that provides him an easy life in return. But alas, as all good things eventually come to an end. In "Kecoh! Hantu Raya Tok Chai", the story picks up when Tok Chai passes on, leaving behind his beloved "Hantu Raya". For the uneducated "Hantu Raya", the burying of Tok Chai means the end of him, thus the "Hantu Raya" tries to stop the villagers from burying Tok Chai. With the wisdom of Tok Imam, and the efforts of Ebby, Corporal Lisa, Tok Penghulu, Sargent, Tok Imam and his followers are determined to bury Tok Chai before dawn breaks. Will "Hantu Raya" successfully stop Tok Imam and his followers from completing Tok Chai's funeral? Who will turn victim to placate "Hantu Raya"? Most importantly, who will care for ol' "Hantu Raya" when all is said and done? close

I had a strong, slightly illicit, urge to commandeer the original train sequence from the 1931 film Possessed and make it move in such a way as to give the girl (Joan Crawford) what she thought she wanted: a position on the inside. To do that, I had to create my own (all encompassing) vehicle. By my count, the original sequence provides three orders of motion: the motion (and stillness) of the passengers on the train, the motion of the train itself, and finally the motion of the girl (Joan) outside of the train. close
