Jamila Bupasha, a 22-year-old member of the Algerian National Liberation Front, was arrested in 1960 during the Algerian colonial war on charges of preparing a bomb explosion. While in prison, she confessed to plotting the attack, but did so after being bullied and tortured by soldiers.
