This French drama is definitely controversial as it chronicles the sexual awakening of an 11 year old girl at the hands of a 50-year old man. The film tries to present it in a positive, and beautiful way, alluding to the fact that the curious girl wanted it to happen. The viewer can decide whether or not the film is beautiful or whether it is a glossy excuse for pedophilia. It is set just after World War II. A man has discovered and read Celine's diary which is filled with sexual longing and sensuality. The child herself, only portrayed as a photograph, describes her relations with a recently widowed hairdresser. The film contains little formal dialog and mostly focuses upon the daily lives of the people involved. The setting of the seduction is shown, but not the seduction itself. close

Auguste out of jealousy summons the gendarmes, and they come to arrest Paul. Paul fights with Auguste and thinks he killed him. Marie's trying to keep him from showing up. Bombing's starting. Wounded Auguste is littered under the rubble of his cafe's warehouse. Paul jumps into his train at the last minute, which is already on its way. close

The film "Masterpiece" (Masterpiece) - the story of the relationship between the artist Henri Matisse and his muses, nurses, and after the nun Monique Bourgeois.
In 1942, Matisse, who was 72 years old at the time, fell ill after being diagnosed with stomach cancer. For a long time the artist was confined to bed. His nurse then became 21-year-old Monique Bourgeois. After Matisse recovered, the girl posed for him several times, after which they broke up.
In 1946, fate brought them together again – Monique had by that time taken tonsure under the name Jean-Marie and served in the Dominican monastery in Vance. The artist took the request of his former nurse to help her in working on sketches of stained glass windows in the monastery Chapel Rootok as a divine sign and took up work with enthusiasm. Work on the Capella took several years of Matisse's life and was completed shortly before his death. This work of the great French post-Impressionist considered his best work, a true masterpiece. close
