No doubt America. In the mid-60s, recently Kennedy was assassinated, the ideas of Martin Luther King are floating around the country. But in the province, everything is still based around the Church. But the church in these places is represented by a convent, as well as a school under it and the church itself. Between them there is an undeclared and unofficial war for the souls of men. For Father Flynn's priest and Sister Aloisa's director have very different views on life change. No, of course, in school there is a whole black girl, but any racist attacks are not blocked, because they are quite natural. A more progressive priest likes the boy and is willing to help him. Will the people around you understand this correctly?
In this film, it is never said what exactly Flynn’s father is suspected of, only hints are made, albeit very transparent. Who and why to believe should decide for himself, and it is good if you do not have doubts. It is also useful in matters of faith.
But there is no doubt about the quality of the actors’ play: Streep, as always, is good in the image of a “bitch”, but we know that she is quite different. Hoffan does not cause any negative emotions. To be honest, what I liked most was Viola Davis, who plays the boy’s mother, who is willing to do anything to educate her son and win the competition with the director herself. After all, unlike other actors who to some extent played masks, she had to change emotionally every second.
Just don’t expect the truth from this film. He doesn’t even have to do that by name.
