Winged creatures Drama is a genre that I rarely watch and is very selective when choosing films in this direction. So to make the film please and like me, while being pure drama, it’s a whole event. “Burning Plain” has become a pleasant film that you want to keep in the collection and sometimes review. Definitely a catchy and interesting movie.
The plot consists of several lines, whose connection eventually turns out to be quite original and interesting, and the presentation of the story is a kind of ragged narrative, demonstrating the events of the present, past, future in pieces, and besides mixing the episodes of the stories told, leading to their logical connection. For all its simplicity, the film is confusing. You don’t really know what’s going on here. The non-linearity of the narrative adds a peculiar twist, in the spirit of my very much beloved film, A Hero Wanted. Dosed pieces of the general mosaic gradually add up to a very interesting story, which leaves a bright and pleasant trace in the soul.
Built around one incident, the plot resembles the movie Winged Creatures (in our box office nicknamed “The Lifelong Flight”), and the similar style of revealing the characters only confirms this common feature. Well, one of the key storylines is insanely reminiscent of the no less adored “Lunatism”, and although it is clearly inferior, but it is told all the same touching and good acting of the actors helps to leave positive impressions.
Charlize Theron and Kim Besinger, the film’s two main stars, are definitely worth watching. But I would not particularly single them out their cast, as here absolutely all coped perfectly with the task of embodying their characters on the screen. Quite ordinary characters with pressing and close to the viewer problems, a cocktail from a variety of ages, helping to remember yourself in a particular period of life. Serious problems are raised in sharp form and hover in the air, creating a heavy atmosphere of the plot, which is extremely interesting to observe from different viewpoints. The difficulty of perception due to the style of presentation is compensated by immersion in the inner world of each central character and in solving their problems and difficulties. Involuntarily put yourself in the place of this or that hero, with all your heart empathize, and think - what would you do in a similar situation unfolded on the screen.
The city, the rocks on which the waves beat, a large field and many other landscapes, beautifully shot and somehow combined with the lives of the heroes with peculiar metaphors and individual features. The haunting past, the uneven present, the lack of thoughts about the future – and this is how many people live now. Running from what has passed, or constantly tormented by memories that flooded like cold waters on sharp ledges of rocks. And mentally I want to dissolve in the field, and burn without residue. Passion, freedom, all your true essence, and not the mask of deception under which you hide and try again to “start from the beginning”. A new life really begins with those who are ready for it and really want it. He wants to live, live a full life and breathe fully, rather than fleeing his own past. Life offers opportunities that are important to see and take advantage of in time. Some people do it, others do not, others just run and do not notice such things. A film about what life is, what it can be and what it could become. For every hero, for every viewer. Here everything is accessible and understandable, so strong and emotional that not everyone will dare, even temporarily, but try on the skin of the main characters of this vital dramatic play.
All happy families are alike. Each unhappy family is unhappy in its own way, this classic motif sweeps at high speed, mercilessly penetrating every frame of the narrative, showing us a story of happiness and unhappiness, the story of several families whose fates are tightly connected and even not at all as it might seem at first glance. Classical motifs permeate the script of the film, referring to works known to everyone. From Shakespearean motifs Romeo and Juliet to folk myths/fairy tales like Cuckoo. And the acute topics developed in history find their logical solution, their ways to survive the reigning conflict and give food for thought about the possible options for the development of each situation. The film will not show “what if...”, but it will place the most important accents and present life questions from the solvable side.
The film is smart, beautiful and very interesting. It can be viewed from different sides, opening up new horizons, new opportunities and finding new answers to ordinary everyday questions and problems that we face almost daily. A story about what is happening in our lives around us. Who surrounds us, with whom we live, whom we love and how all these relationships are intertwined by a tight tangle of conflicts and communication, how much circumstances affect us and what depends on us.
A vivid example of the kaleidoscope of the human soul, the diversity of characters and life values. Setting priorities plays the most important role every time. Priorities change, goals change, and all this directly affects the development of events. Everything around us is subject to change and everything is in our hands. The film is about those who are not afraid to take responsibility, even if they do not do the right thing, but it is their actions and their choice, and not missed opportunities that you have to regret all your life. And the target audience of the film from young people to mature adults, reviewing this film at different periods of life, will always find a lot of interesting and new, assimilating both basic superficial ideas and various subtexts. And in the end, the film brings together, spiritualizes and does kinder. A pleasant aftertaste, tears of happiness and a smile with which you look into your own future, without doubting your capabilities. Attract and hook such a movie can be many things, and therefore certainly will appeal to a wide audience when watching at home. Such films are good to watch, both alone and with a loved one, with his family, with friends. After all, a good movie filled with meaning will always find its viewer and a place in the heart of an adequate audience. I recommend everyone to watch.
