Back to the future The rise of Russian cinema is acutely felt in all genres. Thrillers, action films, fiction, fairy tales, comedies – how many successful (albeit not always flawless) films this year are able to please and make our cinema proud. Vladimir Alenikov gathered real masters of acting talent, stars of great magnitude, and artists with a capital letter in his new comedy, which came out really very funny and funny. Vladimir did not forget about the young actors, making the central pair of bright, but still little-known people. In the future, Maria Gorban and Ivan Zhidkov have every chance to become stars of our cinema, and continue to show their acting talent in good films.
Based on the short humorous stories of Georgy Golubenko’s book “Red City”, Alyonikov’s film tells about the arrival of the grandson of one who left for Odessa from America to Odessa. The main character with a characteristic American accent and the regular insertion of classical expressions into Russian speech turned out to be an extremely pleasant and interesting personality, and interesting adventures fall on him in a rather attractive form of temporary travel, where he gets acquainted with Odessa of different times, meeting interesting and even unique people.
The rod sweeps through all the stories about the cat, which so strongly asked the grandfather of the main character to bring to the States. The search for the animal plunges the character of Ivan Zhidkov into the world of Odessa, full of humorous scenes and sparkling jokes. Original came out and all these movements, from the past – back to the future, jumping on the most important periods of the city’s life, showing clearly how its life changed, how people and their destinies changed.
Of course, such a comedy can not do without romance, and this storyline also very easily and gently slips into each layer of the narrative, from era to era, getting its development and becoming more saturated with each time. Charming and charming Maria Gorban with one of her smiles can already win the hearts of the audience, she plays perfectly, is very sensual and at the same time believably behaves in each scene, making a fantastic story so real that you believe in all this, immersed in such a real fairy tale for the whole time of viewing.
Armen Dzhigarkhanyan, Roman Kartsev, Alexander Pankratov-Black, Nina Usatova, Vyacheslav Grishechkin, Vladimir Dolinsky, and many other bright and significant names of talented actors for Russian cinema, attract to viewing such a comedy instantly. Of course, it is impossible not to say about the red cat. He also played his game perfectly, well done! The whole colorful set of characters, where secondary and even episodic characters are as charismatic and bright as the main characters, and differ only in the timing of the presence in the frame, looks just fine. And the film carries into the soul a sense of lightness and kindness, showing various funny sketches, discarding beautiful jokes and generally delighting the humorous component in full program, in the rhythm of retro-KVN. The rhythm is pleasant, a little nostalgic and so cheerful, grabbing the soul and touching.
Filmed without grinding and ragged editing, long complex scenes surprise with the quality of their production and the ability of the director to shoot such a volume of material from one take at once, serving all this also interesting on the screen so that the action does not seem monotonous. The dynamics of the plot does not let you get bored, now and then making you laugh and follow further adventures, and once you catch a wave of positive - the viewer does not get off it until the very end. From the bottom of my heart, I want to wish such a wonderful film success, find a large audience of its viewers, and grow if not a direct continuation, then further similar stories about such a wonderful city.
