from Hollywood with style Now I have seen all the works of Pierre Morel, and I must admit that this film seemed to me the most unsuccessful.
The plot tells about a young employee of the Embassy Richard and American secret agent Charlie Wex, whose fates intersect while working on a risky operation in Paris.
I am almost a fan of the film "Hostage", at least for the action movie is a masterpiece, and this was just his previous film, and especially in it plays John Travolta, one of my favorite actors. You understand the expectation. But nothing came of it.
Let me start with Travolta. Clearly, that's not his role. For me, he will always be the grief gangster from Pulp Fiction, or the dancer from Saturday Night Fever. In the militants, I do not see his image at all, and I cannot see it because it is clearly not his role. And then he was so discharged that except for laughter he did not cause anything else. But the action exceeded all my expectations. Naturally in quotation marks. I certainly didn't expect that. That Travolta in tight jeans, a ridiculous scarf, with a bald head will wet everyone right and left. And age, you know, size. And how he wore it. Of course, I understand that he immediately tried very hard. I squeezed out everything I could, but nothing worthwhile at all, although I like him much more than Liam Neeson, but I must admit that the image in the film “Hostage” was much cooler than here. Some younger actor like Matt Damon would have come here, but not Travolta. If “Hostage” was a smart film, with high morals, and a healthy plot, then here again it turned out to be the devil that. First of all, an uninteresting story. Secondly, if everything in the same “Hostage” was built on thought, then here on a pistol (automatic gun, grenade launcher, shotgun, grenade, bomb). It's just a clean snout, to put it bluntly. Apart from shooting, there is absolutely nothing here. But at least it looks interesting, but it is not enough. There is one sharp twist of the plot, which I naturally will not say in any case, but again, this is not enough. For the pre-final thought, I added half a point, but the ending ruined everything. The whole impression of the movie. So I would drop one point for her.
In general, recently it has become noticeable that the French are increasingly Americanized. And this film and the same last year’s “Largo Winch: The Beginning” are all one hundred percent American action films, only with the only difference that they are made not in Hollywood, but somewhere in France. There is a breakdown of French cinema. They are already moving away from their style of glorious fighters of the 90s, the main of which is Leon, and this is of course very regrettable.
The film was not about fish and meat. Don’t understand what, there is not what was in “Hostage”, and even at the worst in “13 district”, which I also do not like. But still the action part here is done well, even despite the ridiculous-looking Travolta. Original
