Resurrection that did not take place The film is amazing!
It turns the soul, consciousness, perception of the world. . .
That is how (and only so) it could be put – the phantasmagoria of people, events, time, spaces of the soul and the concentration of souls in a single space. The sore eyes of Germany’s leading comedian, who weep, suffer, scream with pain, horror, fear, endless remorse for non-existent guilt, desire for redemption and the inability to give it to oneself.
Can a loving, happy husband and father forgive himself the death of his dearest and dearest people, which he could not (and could not) prevent, even if he jumped out of himself with his most amazing circus, magical trick?
It drives every minute crazy, it destroys the remnants of consciousness, of human dignity, it makes life itself impossible. . .
And only the second equally unhappy, humiliated, torn creature-child opens the main character of the picture the way to himself. Their shared pain, misery, despair save them both, eventually, and leave a desert in their souls, one way or another. I can’t believe that the boy could enter normal life, although in the film he was given such hope.
Jeff Goldbduhm's matchless game! I think this is his best role of all time. It doesn’t matter if it’s a prize or not.
Strong and worthy work of the young actor Tudor Rapiteanu. Willem Defoe was excellent, as always. A more repulsive and abominable camp commandant (and the devil tempting in the desert) is hard to imagine.
Perhaps I could not imagine this story, shot differently than it is presented in this film. For this, a huge thank you to the director and the entire film crew!
