After the death of his wife Raimund Balsam alone raises his 12-year-old son Paul. He works as a magician. It's hard to be an exemplary parent when you're tormented by sadness and anguish. Raymond refuses any outside help, including his daughter-in-law Antonia. Paul has an accident and Raymond must change. He will have to fight with himself, and he will understand that only confronting his past will help solve problems and move forward.
