Cold and darkness The brand “from the creators of Saw” should not only attract the attention of fans of the genre, but also justify the hopes. Also, a certain proportion of horror fans will be attracted to the film by the name of the director - Adam Green shot the slasher "Axe" with the cult Kane Hodder, and now he is busy staging the sequel. True "Frozen" - still closer to the mentioned "Saw", especially to the first. And despite the fact that the action space here is not limited to four walls, the action is concentrated in one place - high stuck in the cold mountains booth, where three friends decided to make a descent on a cold night.
Twilight is thickening around, an evil piercing wind strives to peel off the skin and freeze the bodies of those stuck in captivity, hungry wolves howl in the forests, and hopes for salvation are extremely small - they have simply forgotten about them. And now, presented to themselves, they are fighting for survival, and all around is cold and darkness.
“Frozen” belong to the category of films where the minimum dynamics is in favor of tension, and a small number of characters helps the characters to be remembered and revealed as much as possible. Of course, it is not necessary to say that we have a deep drama, but the actors’ play is quite emotional and looks sincere, without falsehood. This helps to immerse the viewer in the situation itself and the circumstances of the plot, makes you empathize with the characters and watch the development of events with interest.
And this development, I must say, is despite the limited scope of action. In the film, the characters are constantly acting, trying to escape, communicating and trying to get out of the trap. The winter relevance of the release of the film even more corresponds to its atmosphere, while there is snow outside the window, the viewer is able to feel the penetrating feeling of cold, which is reflected in this thriller.
As for the spectacle, the various scenes of abominations and frostbite clearly will not leave fans of “Saw” indifferent, although they will not go overboard with excessive cruelty. Many episodes will pretty much rub your nerves, some are even able to make you turn away or close your eyes in horror. On a full stomach, such a movie is clearly not recommended, and the emphasis on genre cinema is made just for fans of this direction of cinema. At the same time, the interest is reinforced by the fact that despite only three characters: two guys and a girl, the viewer is unlikely to be able to guess the outcome of the film and make the right bet on whether someone will survive in these chilling episodes, and if he survives, then who exactly it will be. The film does not get flipping twists, it just as intensely develops the cruelty of events taking place on the screen.
Excellent genre film, worthy of audience attention. This is a really chilling thriller, with an atmosphere of horror and cold, unfolding a tense and terrible tragedy where traditionally it is customary to have fun and relax, skiing and snowboarding. A cruel and emotional film from Adam Green, which seems to become one of the brightest modern figures of quality horror.
