Jim Jarmusch's "Stranger Than Paradise" was filmed by him in 1984, first as a short meter, then shot to the fullest. To live in New York Hungarian emigrant Bele, in the American manner called Willie, comes from Hungary his cousin Eva. Having lived with him for 10 days, she goes further to Cleveland to their aunt, to which she, in fact, went. The girl is very independent, not very clean in her hand - she does not hesitate to steal from the supermarket. Willie pretends to be a real American, refuses to speak Hungarian, but does not want to work at all - together with his friend Eddie, they "earn" by playing races and card games. A year later, they decide to visit Eva and spontaneously go to Florida, which is supposed to be paradise. The place where they stay does not look like paradise. End open. The plot of the film is not so exciting, as you can see, but the main thing is more form. He shot such separate small scenes, interrupted by blackout, and the film is black and white, it’s interesting. It would be very useful to show immigrants that they had no illusions about the heavenly life, beauty and order in America, especially in those days. I can’t say that the film made a strong impression on me, rather not. I wanted to see it for a long time, I read a lot of laudatory reviews, if I hadn’t looked, I wouldn’t have lost anything, but I filled the gap.
