The English name The I Inside is more accurate - the hero wanders not only by his memories, but also by the subconscious, seeing often very wild things. By the middle of the film, the viewer’s head goes around – mutually exclusive events already occur with the hero, and it is impossible to understand where the reality is, where the illusion is.
What can I say about all this? The film is confused, the hero is quite unpleasant. It is difficult to understand the plot, and probably not necessary: after all, this film was made not to answer questions, but to ask them again.
Are we masters of our destiny? Or hostages to circumstances that don't give our will a chance to manifest? What is time and consciousness and what awaits a person after death? These are the eternal questions that the filmmakers once again put before us.
Honestly, I don’t know why the movie didn’t impress me. There may have been a lack of a convincing atmosphere. Or maybe I was annoyed by the stupid behavior of some heroes. Why, if you want to change the past, repeat actions over and over again, albeit with a different motivation? Is it possible to change your behavior radically – to go the other way, to make an unexpected act? To do the opposite? And the “wife” of the main character – does she not understand that living with a person you blackmail is like living on a powder keg? And if the truth is revealed, it will be brought to justice.
Inside My Memory was one of the first in a string of films to focus on memories and attempts to change the past, real or illusory. It is not known whether it influenced the creators of “The Butterfly Effect” or “Stay” – the films were released at intervals of 1-2 years, and feature films are not quickly made, so most likely, the thought of the creators of these films was simultaneously based on the same classical sources. But the most spectacular of this series, he certainly did not become: a dull hero and a murky plot did their job. Although, I must admit, in some places the paranoid atmosphere heats up so much that the film almost turns into a real horror: there would be glitches of the main character more bizarre, and it would look like Silent Hill.
Summary: another thriller about problems with the past, memory and subconsciousness of a single dull subject. Good movie: not stupid, emotional, sometimes even creepy. However, sometimes, where psychedelia and mystery were conceived, a dull confusion creeps in. And the main character lacks charisma, and the plot - logic. For theme lovers.
