The film is based on the poem of the same name by Alfred Tennyson (1809-1892).
18th century, fishing village. The love triangle is a modest fisherman Enoch Arden, his lover Annie Lee and rich rival Philip Ray. The girl goes to Enoch, they get married, and a few years later they have three children.
