This film consists of three parts and tells about the contemporaries of A. S. Pushkin - the pride and glory of Russia, the poet Gavriil Romanovich Derzhavin, who at the exam in the Lyceum "blessed" A. S. Pushkin as a poet, about the great writer Karamzin, who, according to Pushkin, accomplished "the feat of an honest man" by writing "History of the Russian State", as well as about the first publisher of A. S. Pushkin - A. F. Smirdin.
