And is this a thriller? I never get tired of scolding mediocre movies!
I wanted to see something similar to her favorite “Cube”: a closed space, a group of people, a game of survival and elimination. She went looking for Alisonka and came across this miracle in the genre of thriller.
What's important to a thriller? Let's go item by item. First, the tension. The stress that the characters experience should be transmitted to the viewer. But something went wrong with House of 9. The first half of the film looks, as they say, relaxed. The viewer is meeedly introduced to the course of things, the characters conduct meaningless conversations, make unnecessary body movements, wander back and forth. But the most fascinating is such episodes: first tears and drinking alcoholic beverages to sad music, and then partying and drinking alcoholic beverages to cheerful hip-hop. In general, if you cut these and similar scenes, the time of the film will be reduced from the standard 90 minutes to about one hour.
But in the second half the dynamics are just crazy! True, because of this, again, the entire suspense is lost, because you do not have time to digest and feel the events.
Secondly, what thriller without unpredictability, unexpected turns of events? But already in the first minutes of the film, we are subtly (in fact, quite straightforward) hinted at who will come out of the creepy mansion and take the prize. The creators immediately focus on one particular character. This character first woke up, lost consciousness, then he is brought to his senses. It remains to be seen how this character will survive. But we will keep the intrigue at least in the review and do without names.
And the third point concerns cinema in general, not only thrillers. Logic. Half of the deaths are unfounded and far-fetched. We need to kill, we will kill, but how – ai, we will figure out, because it is not so important in essence. Isn't that right, my dear writer?
Characteristically, linear, worse, template heroes somehow not even sorry. I can't believe they're alive. More or less pretty except that Leah and the priest are kind and sweet.
However, after viewing, there is no unpleasant feeling of wasted time. Although the film is not exciting, and it is unlikely to want to review it, but for once anything like that will go away, if you are completely hungry for such stories.
I'm going to give you a rating of 5 out of 10.
