Anything can happen during the dog days of summer. On August 22nd, 1972, everything did.
Based on the true story of would-be Brooklyn bank robbers John Wojtowicz and Salvatore Naturile. Sonny and Sal attempt a bank heist which quickly turns sour and escalates into a hostage situation and stand-off with the police. As Sonny's motives for the robbery are slowly revealed and things become more complicated, the heist turns into a media circus.

To give preference in life to a being simply because it is a member of our species puts us in the same position as racists who favor those who are members of their race.
Peter Singer:

Throughout my life, I have devoted myself entirely to the struggle for the African people. I fought both against white domination and black domination. I honored the ideal of a democratic and free society in which all citizens live in harmony and have equal opportunities. This is the ideal for which I am ready to live and to which I aspire. But if it is necessary, I am prepared to die for this ideal.
Nelson Mandela:

The class division of society is the new racism. It's discrimination based on what school your kids go to and how much you earn. But for me, my driver is more important than the head of any company. He's more important than anyone who comes into my house and grabs a glass of champagne.
Kanye West:

Money is the only human-created trust system that bridges any abyss and does not discriminate on the basis of religion or sex, race, age or sexual orientation. With money, people who don’t know each other and have no reason to trust each other can collaborate effectively.
Yuval Noah Harari, from Sapiens. A Brief History of Humanity :

Who says your kids are better than mine? Who said that a strong chin, rapid metabolism or muscles... Who says your children will be happier and better than mine? I will love them no less. And why did you decide to be a better husband if you came from a good family with good genetics? Or... It is your property and your children are your property.
Quote from the movie "The Invention of Lies"
Mark Bellison:

Where, show us, the fathers of the fatherland,
Which ones should we take as samples?
Aren't these robberies rich?
They found protection from the court, in the family,
The magnificent building of the chamber,
Where they are poured in feasts and treachery,
And where foreign customers will not be resurrected
A past life is the meanest.
Who in Moscow did not hold their mouths?
Lunch, dinner and dancing?
Alexander Sergeyevich Griboyedov
Woe to me.
Chatzky:

When you see that trade is not consensual but coercive, when in order to produce you have to get permission from people who produce nothing, when money goes to dealers not for goods but for advantages, when you see people getting richer for bribes or patronage, not for work, and your laws protect you not from them, but them from you, when corruption brings income and honesty becomes self-sacrifice, know that your society is doomed.
Ayn Rand
Atlas shrugged his shoulders :

Earlier, in recent times, we said that our officials take bribes, that we have no roads, no trade, no proper court. And then we realized that talking, all talking about our ulcers is not worth the trouble, that this leads only to vulgarity and doctrinalism; we saw that our smart people, the so-called advanced people and whistleblowers, are no good at all, that we engage in nonsense, talk about some art, unconscious creativity, about parliamentarism, about the bar and the devil knows what, when it comes to daily bread, when the grossest superstition strangles us, when all our joint-stock companies are the only ones who are engaged in nonsense, talk about it, talking about some kind of some kind of art, about our own stupidity, when our own freedom turns out to us, when it is only to steal from our own fault, when our own freedom, when it turns out to us itself to be honest.
Ivan Sergeyevich Turgenev
Fathers and children
Evgeny Bazarov:

It's such a time... Vile... Thieves... They steal the most from upstairs. In front of everyone. Unpunished! Everyone knows that. It's in the papers. Who exactly, and how he stole it. And this thief smiles at us from the screen and teaches us democracy. It turns out you can steal... Here we go. A race. MMM, Hermes, businessmen, bandits, officials and all sorts of petty scum. There's no stopping. . .
Valery Narimanov
Weirds:

Show me a country like this.
Where the hams bless,
Where rulers rob the treasury,
Breaking the law.
Igor Talkov
Globe :

Great chamber movie. Stunning atmospheric dialogue, keeps the attention until the end. : The movie still looks fresh and big. : Be sure to watch. Al Pacino is phenomenal here. Great acting. Thank you, Al. :)😎

If it is not a masterpiece, it is close to a masterpiece of cinema. All the action except the final takes place in two rooms and before leaving the building, but the action is exciting. The plot is based on the confrontation between two bank robbers and the police. Sidney Lumet managed a very subtle production, viewing which causes mixed feelings. What happens on the screen is absurd and causes both laughter and tears at the same time. The film captures the turbulent and conflicted era of the 1970s. Each party involved represents a part of society that wants something, doesn’t understand what’s going on and gets involved. There are police, social activists, ordinary people, and Vietnam War veterans (who are represented by the main character), and the media, and gays, and transgender people. It’s not just the “great silent majority.”

For its time, the film is scandalous, touching on painful topics. The Vietnam War has just ended, and in the chronology of the picture it is still ongoing. Social and political institutions are losing credibility. There was a Stonewall riot recently. Some gay men demanded the right to marry each other. The crowd, following the main character, shouts the name of the Attica prison, in which in 1971 rioting prisoners took the guards hostage. Governor Nelson Rockefeller ordered the prison stormed a few days later, hoping that the show of brutality would attract conservative voters who had previously rejected him and finally allow him to become president. As a result, both prisoners and guards paid for Rockefeller’s ambitions. Anyway, Sidney Lumet had something to show. And he did it perfectly. What are the only scenes with Sunny’s wife that can be revised and revised? And of course, Al Pacino's great role.

Great movie, but not easy.

I don’t know, I didn’t like the whole homophile theme, it didn’t go down, although the atmosphere in the bank smiled, for me it should be, the main thing is people, and money. . .
