Lippel's parents go on a trip and give Lippel, whose real name is Philip, a collection of fairy tales "One Thousand and One Nights", to occupy his son in his absence. And when the boy begins to read the legends of Scheherazade, he opens up a fantastic world. Suddenly, his nanny, the cunning Mrs. Jacob, interrupts his thoughts. She's taking the book from him. But with his imagination, he recreates the end of the story. His dreams become even more interesting than the adventures of the book, when the people around him in real life begin to play their roles.
