In 1876, on a voyage along the Danube, the passenger steamer Radetsky was captured by Bulgarian rebels led by Hristo Botev. Botev and his associates threatened the captain to land them on the Bulgarian coast, near the village of Kozloduy. The squad took part in heavy fighting at Vratz.
