A screen adaptation of Karl Zeller's operetta of the same name. Adam and his fiancée, Cristel, want to get married, but the bird vendor doesn't have enough money. To finance the wedding, Christelle finds him a job with the prince. However, Adam completely misunderstood this gesture: he is convinced that Christelle is having an affair with the prince. In exchange, he suddenly falls in love with the prince’s wife, who dresses up as a peasant Marie in order to understand rumors about her husband’s infidelity. . .
