A Prisoner in the Caucasus
Kavkazkie plenniki

In 1850, young Leo Tolstoy served in the Russian army in the Caucasus. Described in his subsequent works, the gloomy image of the Russian war in Chechnya is compared in the film with the image of today’s Chechen conflict. The bitter tale of Russian wars in the Caucasus leads to the sad conclusion that nothing has changed in Russian wars since Tolstoy. The same readiness for brutal violence, the same absurd military parades, the same type of people among soldiers.
