A strange impression left this film recommended by the Movie Navigator. The recommendation service’s forecast for the movie is 8.3. But this time the prediction didn't come true. From the point of view of classical directing - a very weak plot. The story is: Gunther, found in a German forest at the age of four, grows up in a foster home. Four decades later, he leads a normal life: working as a theater actor, spending time with his daughter Lizzie and having an affair with a married woman. He does not question his origin until a stranger on the bridge whispers a single word in his ear. However, the plot is built in such a way that the message of the film is very difficult to capture. What oppositional values are driving it? The narrative breaks down into two stories that are practically unrelated in meaning ... in any case, the writer and the director do not build this semantic connection. The two stories are united only by a common protagonist. But the hero, as you know, is only a function of the plot. Therefore, unity in the perception of parts of the film has a very fragile support - a common performer of the main characters of both parts. In the first part, the main character is presented as a talented actor, with an open perception of the world - direct and direct. Love story with his partner on the stage and, at the same time, the wife of the director perceives as love, not a lustful affair. But the offended husband with all the brilliance of directorial talent builds a tough trap for the opponent. Beloved betrays. A hero with no job and no money. Dead end. The viewer expects a solution, which is possible only with the help of psychological elaboration of the event. However, another story is suggested as a solution. Suddenly, it turns out that Gunther was brought to Earth from another planet. Both he and his daughter Lizzie are aliens, and a network of undercover agents hunt them to bring them home. In this story, aliens, including Gunther and Lizzie, act as soulless cynics who easily outplay the Catholic earthlings who wish to join them. So what is the message of the film?! To condemn or glorify multi-mode games in which there is no God and no justice?
