The British detective mini-series “The Capture”, 2019, I must say, watched with interest. It begins with such a seemingly not very exciting story with a soldier Sean Emery, who killed an unarmed enemy on the battlefield in Afghanistan (the story itself does not look very convincing, who it ever stopped in combat), he denies it. After 6 months of imprisonment, finally, a trial was held in which he is defended by two fairly well-known lawyers, one of them - Hannah - finds a witness whose testimony makes it possible to refute the main evidence - a video recorded by a field head-mounted video camera, which shows that the enemy is unarmed. Sean is released, in the evening he with friends and his only relative - his grandfather - celebrate the event in the pub. But then something happens, after which he is arrested again that evening, as a CCTV camera on the street, which so abounds in England, captures the act of kidnapping against his lawyer, committed by Sean. It is neither a dream nor a spirit, but a chain of events begins to unfold, in which the police, as well as the intelligence services of Britain and the United States, turn out to use a special program using video recordings, here the term “capture” is used in this case in the sense in which it is used by computer scientists. The police are also not so clear, as the case is handled by investigator Rachel Carey, who gradually begins to realize that there is something wrong. Then it turns out that all these bodies, it turns out, have opponents who launched a fight against them. I will not reveal the intrigue, I will only say that again moral principles come into play - what methods are permissible to use to solve crimes. The idea itself, firstly, is very timely, given the entanglement of people’s lives with cyber traps of varying degrees of danger for them, and secondly, it shows an increasingly blurring of the lines between the permissible and the unacceptable (the opponents in this film are worth each other, although guided by different principles). The series, really great, I do not want to disassemble the flaws, of course, since such a series came out, so they were allowed to do it, this is still a feature film, in fact everything may not be quite so, but I recommend it to amateurs. The second season was no less interesting, there is considered the production of already widespread deepfakes, now you can put anything in the mouth and most will believe that this is what the person said. Frankly, this raises serious concerns about the human future.
