A film about the near future. Love Diaz is trying to understand how life will change in the next couple of decades. I think he guessed a lot.
“Those who do not have a flu vaccine certificate will be arrested,” the doctor says in the film. How could you guess at the beginning of 2019? Mandatory vaccinations under various threats, the strengthening of dictatorship, the suppression of dissent – this is not only about the Philippines in 2034, it is in fact about almost all countries in the coming years.
A volcanic eruption has caused the sun to disappear over an entire region of Southeast Asia, an obvious metaphor for slipping into times of unfreedom and fear. The resistance in the film is essentially incapable of fighting, and its leader decides to take care of the street children – a hint that perhaps only the next generation will be able to fix something in this world.
P. S. 15.10.2021. Yes, the dictator in this film clearly wins against the backdrop of the real President of the Philippines, who recently said the following to unvaccinated citizens: “Let’s get them home and get vaccinated while they sleep.”
