"Happiness" - from the word "part" The first view left nothing but a sense of hopelessness and meaninglessness of the message laid by Loznitsa. Over "My Happiness" had to reflect in order to find a connecting thread in the mosaic of dark and terrible social plots.
Of course, the chanson in the cockpit of the trucker George and the documentary manner of shooting immediately refer to the “Cargo 200”. But I think the similarities between the paintings are more visible: the realist Balabanov wanted to depict the era, and the film is full of symbols and allegories. "Happiness" comes from the word "part." “You stay out of it. Do not go anywhere! – persistently exclaims George alone led his main life truth. Spend your time in the right way and don’t care about anything else. On this part, in general, all the characters that meet the main character are fixated. Hence the violent reaction of a young prostitute to an unacceptable way of giving her happiness.
The material, horizontal standard of living is emphasized by the landscape with predominantly low houses. With this understanding of roads, roadsides, train stations become places where someone will lose, and someone will find happiness. Loznitsa does not spare George, releasing him into the rapid artery of road exchange. Ignorance of the law and the position of the observer do not save the main character, as well as the guy on the poster, who, according to everyone, was awarded only concrete happiness.
The film has a level of immersion: from city to village and then full of deafness, from summer to winter. The final scene is very logical.
Using elements of our present life, Loznitsa not only creates an original dystopia, but also makes us terrified of the chosen path. Forward, fortunately!
