I watched the comedy directed by Valery Bychenkov in 1993, “The Happy Loser”, which turned out to be very good. The main character of the film is a teenager Vitya Shumeykin (Semen Mendelsohn), he is an orphan, brought up by his young and pretty aunt Anya (Angelika Nevolina). The case takes place in Leningrad in the early thirties, I must say, everything is filmed so that it looks quite authentic, adult characters are depicted with humor, sometimes even satirically, for example, psychiatrists who believe that normal children simply do not happen and come up with completely delusional diagnoses based on questionnaires, just then began to appear. Nothing particularly outstanding, of course, in the film does not happen, the simple life of a teenager with all sorts of stories characteristic of boys of this age who manage to get into different situations, but looks good, and the boy plays well, he became an actor, now plays in BDT, occasionally acting in films, and also composes a little music. When I watched, involuntarily recalled such good films as “Private Pioneer” and “Dog Paradise”, also completely underestimated.
