Juan Antonio Bayona watched amazing things, such as “The Impossible” (2012) with Naomi Watts and Ewan McGregor, “The Voice of the Monster” (2016) with Liam Neeson and Sigourney Weaver, “Scary Tales” (series 2014-2016) with Eva Green and Timothy Dalton. All these works emphasize the very laconic style of the director, who shoots short films (it feels like it). I recommend watching all these movies before watching this movie. “Snow Society” turned out to be a very successful disaster film, showing a slice of people in survival conditions. On October 13, 1972, charter flight FAU 571 departed from Montevideo to Santiago. On board the aircraft were 40 passengers and 5 crew members. The entire liner was filled with players of the Old Christians rugby team, their friends and relatives. On approach to the capital of Chile, the plane hit a cyclone, crashed into a rock and collapsed in the middle of snow-capped mountains at an altitude of 3600 m. 12 people died in the crash, five more died from their injuries over the next few days. The survivors were left alone with hunger and cold, with minimal supplies of food and warm clothing. Many people say that the film claims to be the best foreign film this year at the Oscars, and there are prerequisites for this, but in my opinion, the visual here overlapped and dominated the immanent and constant component of the film. In this sense, the “impossible” is much better. And a more finished film. But in any case, I watched the movie without stopping. We watched with my husband and both received emotions and my thoughts, consonant with Isis Reiko from Haruki Murakami’s “Norwegian Forest”: “The most important thing is not to lose heart ... when it becomes beyond our strength, and everything gets mixed up, you can not despair, lose patience and drag on like that.” It is necessary to unravel problems without haste, one after another. The movie is really good. 8/ 10.Recommended viewing. I recommend to watch Nastya Veretennikova and Nikita Tolmatsky, you as fans of disaster films - here you will feel the whole range of emotions. And if you haven’t watched The Impossible (2012), then you should definitely check out the comparative characterization of these films. I'm waiting for feedback. 👩👦
