Another Israeli criminal-political detective, Jerusalem, 2021, tells us about the difficult situation in which this city lives, it turns out to be even more complex than I previously imagined, although I heard a little.
A young woman, Shira (Rotem Sela), is transferred to a Jerusalem police station after a long break from work caused by health problems, after she was brutally beaten after she put on trial her former colleagues who turned out to be corrupt police officers. This branch is located in an area divided between communities that profess different religions - Judaism, Islam, Christianity, and can not divide the territory and real estate among themselves. Everyone believes that they rightfully belong to a particular area, as well as a particular building. Moreover, they literally “gnaw” into the ground and conduct excavations, trying to find artifacts that prove just such belonging. But, as is the case in such cases, both corruption and a simple lust for profit are widespread in this area, including among the police. America’s long arms are also reaching here. That is, in fact, Shira, who was sent here on the recommendation of her great boss, her former lover, who also works here, fell from the fire and into the fire, although at first she was even glad that she got to a real operational job, and not to the office of a piece of paper to go through. The local police chief sends her to Amir’s group (Doron Ben-David), who, along with his two employees, will have to deal with the situation, which is planned due to the fact that in that year two holidays coincide – Jewish and Muslim, which gives reason to fear all sorts of provocations, as events show, completely groundless. Amir was once the same as Shira, an honest and good worker, the last he remained, but with the first he has long had problems, to some extent due to family problems, but a person always chooses himself how he should act. The events that we see in the film unfold for only ten days, but during this time different events occur, crimes are committed, people are revealed, and Shira, untaught by bitter experience, continues to uncover, including again, dishonest police officers and more. Amir, although he recklessly commits a terrible act, also contributes to solving crimes. I will not reveal the details, who wants to see it.
I liked the series, it is good for its genre, I was once again amazed at the complexity of life in such a place, and the fact that there are few honest people is not news for me for a long time.
