Ettore Scola's Passione d'amore (1981)
I love the films of Ettore Scola and have watched quite a few of his films, but not all of them, so I found one in the bins – Passione d’amore (1981).
After all, these people live for themselves, love someone, serve somewhere, and then suddenly they have some kind of turn in their brains and everything goes to hell. Here we go. Young handsome captain Giorgio Bacchetti (Bernard Girodo) after a military campaign gets into a city where he meets and starts an affair with a beautiful, unfortunately married, Clara (Laura Antonelli), but after a short time he is transferred to a remote military garrison, so that their relationship continues in letters and rare meetings. The commander of the garrison, Colonel (Massimo Girotti), opened a kind of small dining room for some officers of the garrison at home, given the low level of their dining room, and Giorgio gets into their company. There he soon learns that the colonel has a cousin Fosca (Valeria D’Obichi) – a girl of very unattractive appearance, besides suffering from some nervous disorder due to her uglyness. Giorgio is a pretty good person by nature, he even feels sympathy for her for a while, she also falls in love with him with all the passion of her obsessive nature, which eventually begins to weigh him down and he lets her know that there can be nothing between them, because he loves another. With this, he only adds fuel to the fire, Fosca completely freaks out and the garrison doctor (Jean-Louis Trentignan) asks Giorgio to help bring her out of this state by showing her attention. But, as they say, it would be better if he did not, after that everything will roll into the abyss.
The film turned out to be very good, after all, this is Ettore Scola, especially since the actors are all good, so I did not regret watching.
