Agincourt 1415: The Triumph of the Longbow | ||||||||

On October 25, 1415, during the Hundred Years' War (1337–1453), the French army hoped to take revenge for defeats at Crécy and Poitiers. The troops numbered 30,000 among them 122 princes of royal blood and the entire color of the French knighthood. They were defended by 6,000 hungry and exhausted Englishmen. A few hours later, the French were defeated most of the nobles perished at the hands of ordinary soldiers, whose armored knights looked with contempt. Once again, the English archers celebrated the victory.
